This incredible recognition was made possible through a partnership between MPAC and Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman, who has been a major supporter of this initiative.
“I’m so proud to have partnered with the Muslim Public Affairs Council in commemorating Ramadan by lighting up City Hall and the Sixth Street Bridge green for the full first week. MPAC has been a leading Muslim organization in Los Angeles for decades and has made our City a better place in which to live. I join MPAC in wishing a very blessed Ramadan Mubarak to those who celebrate.” — Councilmember Nithya Raman
This is a momentous occasion for not only the Los Angeles Muslim community, but the American Muslim community as a whole. We are long overdue for this type of recognition, and this move serves as a testament to the city’s commitment to promoting diversity, respect, and understanding among all faiths and cultures. It also sets an example for other cities to follow suit. We are so grateful to have the City of Angels exhibit the angelic light of Ramadan in enveloping us with the spirit of mercy and compassion and generosity from our Creator. We need that now more than ever.
If you are able to get out and see the lights in person, please do so. In the meantime, you can enjoy a video of the City of Los Angeles lit up for Ramadan here.
In peace,
Salam Al-Marayati
President

I commented on this video only to get somewhat negative responses. Here is what I was responding to:

Respect, dialog, listening and understanding each other, helping each other, adding value to each other, helping to solve the problems of the community etc etc. I love America. I wish muslim countries can see this and do the same for the christian, jewish etc etc other peoples in their country. This is pure love and democracy. World has a lot to learn from America. Thanks to everybody at City of Los Angeles and thanks to people of America. 🙏❤🙏

My response.
As we see and hear more from followers of this ideology and scholars not of this ideology who seem to have a totally different understanding based on deep research etc. one comes away with there really is no democracy for Christians and Jews living under Islamic law. Perhaps this will bring more light upon Sharia in as you say more dialog and understanding which seems to be spreading globally via the internet. As you say the world has a lot to learn.
Seemed like an innocent reply on my part but u tube seems to be controlled. Told to do my research another referred to my comment as a troll.
Not to sure anyone can see my post, let me know if you can. Thanks.
