Why are mosques receiving special attention in Washington D.C.?
That’s the interesting question raised by this MPD bulletin after the California synagogue shooting.
After a shooting at a Southern California synagogue left one person dead and at least three other injured in an apparent hate crime, law enforcement agencies in the D.C. area say they are stepping up patrols at places of worship.
In the District, the Metropolitan Police Department said it was asking its officers to pay “special attention” to Jewish and Muslim places of worship.
“MPD’s Department members are instructed to provide special attention to Islamic and Jewish institutions as well as all religious places of worship within their districts,” MPD wrote in a statement to News4. “We continue to monitor all suspicious activity and encourage the public to be aware of any suspicious persons, activity, and/or vehicles.”
After a shooting at a Jewish institution, why are Islamic institutions getting special protection?
The most recent terror attacks on places of worship involved the synagogue in California and churches in Sri Lanka.
But there’s no mention of increasing security at churches in D.C.

True, Mac–notable, though, that he did not attack at Mosque–he attacked a Synagogue, but it is still Mosques that are getting attention.
Frank Anderson says
GI, what about other “houses of worship”. Does this look like religious discrimination? Which religious congregations have NOT been targeted somewhere?
gravenimage says
Hi, Frank. Certainly, Churches and Synagogues have targeted *far* more often than have Mosques.
Frank Anderson says
Really sad that there is no safe and peaceful place. How long will the ignorance of many and the collaboration of enough go on? How can we light more candles of knowledge?
mortimer says
Frank Anderson’s comment is accurate… no place where we are safe from jihad. Muslim terrorists will target any group of kafirs as long as they can kill lots of them at the same time. Every crowded place is the front line in the battle of Muslims versus the wrong-worshipping kafirs that they consider ‘the party of satan’.
This hate-filled rhetoric which comes from the Koran and hadiths inflames the minds of the jihadists to murder indiscriminately with a certain glee.
The sacred texts of Islam cause this INFLAMMATION OF THE MIND and the only way to stop it from happening over and over is to convince Muslims that their books are unreliable and filled with erroneous ideas that cannot be validated, and which are, moreover, contradicted by scholarship and by other verses and paragraphs in the same Islamic texts.
The Islamic texts are filled with blatant contradictions which show that Islam was a human product badly edited. THE TEXTS are what Muslims cling to and by showing the texts are self-referentially incoherent and badly written and even stupid, we can cause doubt which will lead to Muslims leaving Islam entirely. 35% of Muslims have quietly left Islam and only pretend to be Muslim … Muslim in name only (MINO).
gravenimage says
True, Mortimer and Frank.
Ned Kelly says
In New Zealand, after the mosque massacre, threats all over internet said they would burn NZ churches. EVERY mosque in NZ has 24/7 police protection, + NOT ONE church has any, makes my blood boil.
Frank Anderson says
N.K., Why would we expect people who flooded the country with muslims, who have no excuse for not knowing what islam has taught and practiced for 1400 years, to do differently? In Nazi Germany, if there had been attacks on Storm Trooper halls (whatever their local gathering places were called) do you think there would be any protection whatever given to churches or synagogues? In ONE night, Krystal Nacht, approximately 1200 synagogues were destroyed in response to the idiotic shooting of a low level Nazi in France. There is reason to see that muslim invaders, who pray for and practice murder, conquest, slavery and misery, are just a continuation of Nazi Storm Troopers. And with the collection of most individually owned firearms, NZ people are as helpless as Germans then and now to defend themselves from a criminal conspiracy pretending to be a religion..

Gravin, A couple hours ago I skimmed another article that said he claimed to have firebombed a Mosque on a web site and that is why this one guy and 7 others turned him into the FBI 30 minutes before he went on his rampage.
.
Another article said he threw his gun down when rushed by a worshipper and he chased him to his car where he went for another weapon while the Iraqi vet was tryin to break his widow and drag him out of the car and then the off duty border patrol agent shoot up his car.
.
Another article said he then called the State Troopers and asked to be arrested at a certain spot.

Not so !!!
The mosques COULD be preaching just from the Meccan Verses,
per Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s recommendation…

Even a lot of the Meccan verses are pretty ugly–and *very* few Muslims reject the Medinan verses. Why would they, since they abrogate the earlier verses.
Keith says
Why is it that when a non Muslim, on the other side of the world, attacks a mosque or two killing 50+ people we are told that we have to watch out for an anti Muslim backlash and mosques are defended by policemen in London but when, in Sri Lanka, Muslims deconstruct 200+ people in 3 churches, 3 hotels and in firefights with the authorities during raids to find those that helped the jihadists, we are told that we must look out for an anti Muslim backlash. Why is it that when an antisemitic left wing liberal attacks a synagogue police protect the muslims.
Added to that some of our left wing politicians can’t even bring themselves to mention the word Christian.
Sorry but these double standards don’t do anything to alleviate the concerns of people.

I do see Jewish groups in the West, eager to showing solidarity to muslims by vising mosques and hugging muslims after the mosque attacks in N.Z. and Canada but I never see them extending that same compassionate hand to Christians by visiting a Church after a church attack, like the one that killed hundreds of Christians in Sri-Lanka last week! May be this is “due to my rodent like thinking” as you suggested in your earlier comment but if you have a visible Jewish group or a Synagogue, showing solidarity to persecuted Christians plz go right ahead, share it and prove me wrong! Otherwise, whether I am banned or not, I won’t stop believing other wise!
marc says
@christianblood you really do have some disconnect there, i already answered that, I’ll make it simple for you:
A. “rings around” or general public showings of ‘solidarity” of mosques or churches, aka virtue signalling
B. rescuing thousands from genocide as per https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/islamic-state/11775833/Meet-the-man-who-is-trying-to-save-the-Christians-of-the-Middle-East.html and growing a huge network of media to get the word out https://www.davidhorowitzfreedomcenter.org/
which one makes a real world difference where it counts, A or B? simple question, if you still don’t understand, tell me why.
marc says
@christianblood maybe you are looking in the wrong places (due to your rodent like thinking?), in my small town of 100k, with maybe 100 jewish families, when I brought Raymond Ibrahim to speak about his then new book “Crucified Again”, sending out invites to all the churches (over a dozen) and the one synagoge, at the event, half the audience were from the shul.
Only last week when the news of the attack in Sri Lanka broke, I was able to rustle up a nice donation to pass onto the Knights of Columbus during the Pesach service.
I’ll admit there are a sizable number but still a minority of leftist “professional Jews”, but their loud virtue signaling is what tends to be caught by the media, where as Jewish giants in the cause of protecting christians who go unnoticed, as they are not leftists, the the press will ignore their actions, I leave you 2 names amongst many, the sponsor of this site David Horowitz and a personal hero, George Weidenfeld.
christianblood says
Marc
The only Jewish person that consistently spoke against the persecution Christians around the world and even raised funds to support individual Christians being persecuted in the West is the great Ezra Levant! Another one that comes to mind is the blessed Pamela Geller!
Great to hear the “sizable donation” to Sri Lankan Christians too and in that spirit it would also be good to see a Jewish group in the West putting a ‘ring of peace’ around a Church like they did around mosques in the videos above! It is time for Jews in the West to express some visible support to the persecuted Christians around the world like the Ezra Levant does on many occasion!
Ezra Levant on Christian worldwide Christian persecution:

marc says
@ christianblood totally ignoring what I have said as always, like you do with so many other great commentators here, “rings around” churches and mosques are only for the camera, for virtue signalling only, nothing compared to the resources I gave you examples of.
The (mostly “right wing”) Jews who support Christian interests don’t do virtue signalling, they do meaningful action.
Yes Ezra is an example of a Jew putting resources into spreading the plight of Christians, there are far more around if you scratch the surface. If your going to respond, ignoring what I’ve said again, i will ban you like I did before for 30 days, for trolling, so think hard before answer.
christianblood says
Mark
The personal efforts of David Horowitz, George Weidenfeld, Ezra Levant and a few other supportive Jewish individuals is very noble and admirable and I am no denying that but having a Jewish group, like a Synagogue group, not just a few separate individuals, going, for instance, to a Catholic Church last week, after the SriLankan mass-murder and putting a “ring of peace” around it, even be it for “virtue signalling” would send an strong message of support and solidarity to many persecuted Christians around the world. Don’t you agree with that?
marc says
No christianblood, I would not even ask one of those people who gave me a donation to do such a thing, it feels totally alien to me, I’d feel ridiculous even asking them, standing around a building holding hands, achieves nothing, I’d rather no one even knew I’d made a financial donation actually, maybe it’s a more politically conservative / modern orthodox Jewish view / values, we don’t do virtue signaling, you don’t get “right wing” professional Jews, only the left wing has those, we do action for the sake of impact. If I thought it would save a Christian life at risk todo so, without high risk to myself, and I had a genuine chance of achieving that goal, I would, what region do you see Jews living who could do such a thing?
christianblood says
Mark
I agree. The private, individual persons who gave you the donation didn’t have to do this. Since this kind of thing is more like showing solidarity
to a certain religious group and in this case to persecuted Christians, it would be more fit, if an organized or semi-organized Jewish groups like the JDL or for even a certain Jewish congregation with visionary and a politically conscious Rabbi go out and show a public hand of Solidarity to persecuted Christians. And I would say even if this done for a show of “virtue signaling” it would send a public message to a doubtful community that Jews are standing with persecuted Christians and are not shamed of doing this publicly! Many Christians are standing with Israel and with the Jewish people and did so for the past many decades, it is time for the Jews people to also show some public support to the persecuted Christians and I am underlining the word “public” here!
You asked, “what region do you see Jews living who could do such a thing?” I believe Jews living in the West are able to show some public solidarity to the persecuted Christians. Why would it be a dangerous business for the Jews in the West to show some public solidarity to persecuted Christians?
marc says
“Why would it be a dangerous business for the Jews in the West to show some public solidarity to persecuted Christians?”
It wouldn’t and as I have said, I don’t see the point, it’s only virtue signaling (which you value, and I do not), unless my presence would deflect some kinetic attack, then it has value.
marc says
“it would be more fit” please let me know what Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith would prefer, then you have a case, or does his desire not count, only yours.
But you are right, JDL might do something like that, that’s sort of their thing, my thing is very different, and is for me to decide on. If JDL was here in town, and asked me to go along for some such display, I prob would go actually, more to meet up with new people, do some education, tell people about this excellent website (warning them about the resident troll ChristianBlood) and maybe some fundraising. I’d bite my lip at the silliness of virtue signaling.

Fine posts, Marc.
I have also pointed out to christianblood that in the wake of the Sri Lankan Jihad attacks on Churches that the first nation to offer help was Israel–but all he has cone is sneer at this.
christianblood says
Mark
You call it a “virtue signalling”, I call it making a demonstrative public statement to effect public attitudes! Even, in the scriptures, it is said that “an open rebuke is better than hidden love”. Proverbs 27:5.
Love and support given to those who deserve it should be not hidden from public unnecessarily but should be done out in the open to set a good example for the wider community. The “ring of peace” demos put around mosques by Jews liberals in the West is a poorly done public relations on the side of the Jews until it is extended to Christian churches as well. Many millions of Christians stand with Israel as well as with the Jews people and did so for decades, it wouldn’t hurt if the Jews return that favor in small but public and visible ways!
marc says
Proverbs 27:5 @christianblood quoting scripture at me now, how about you pay more attention to Genesis 12.3 and stop cursing Israel!

Most telling is that he expressed support for ISIS. I have not seen that he is a convert to Islam, but so far I have never seen an Infidel express support for ISIS, and he said he wanted to avenge the deaths of Muslims.
Max says
Why are Islamic institutions getting special protection? The answer is that the “authorities” have decided that bending backwards to please Muslims is far more important than protecting Christians and others. For instance, Prince William visited the New Zealand mosques that were attacked. I guess that the prince’s compassion is now fully satisfied, as I understand that he doesn’t plan to visit the families of the Sri Lanka’s 300 Christians killed there. In his mind and the mind of most elites, the killing of 50 Muslims is far more important than the killing of 300 Christians.
