“It was very disturbing because we feel like this was an individual act and we don’t hold any religious group responsible for it.”
Good. The only people responsible for this are those who did it. But is it allowed to ask why the adherents of one particular religious group might be moved to do something like this? Is such a line of inquiry possible, or would it be “Islamophobic”?
“Vandals spray paint messages, break windows at Anderson Co. church,” WSPA, April 14, 2019 (thanks to Grizzly Joe):
ANDERSON CO., SC (WSPA) – Deputies are looking for the person or persons responsible for vandalizing a church in Anderson County.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office says someone broke windows and spray painted messages on the side of Midway Presbyterian Church on Midway Road.
According to deputies, the windows in the church were over 125 years old.
The words “SUBMIT TO GOD THRU ISLAM” and “MUHAMMED IS HIS PROPHET” were spray pained in black onto the siding of the church.
Elders of the church tell 7News they did not let the act of vandals disturb their services and lunch on Sunday.
“It was very disturbing because we feel like this was an individual act and we don’t hold any religious group responsible for it,” said Bob Harrell. “We think it most likely was some misguided young people. However, we do take it very seriously and we’ll do everything we can to assist law enforcement.”…

Islam is a call to violence. Read their scriptures. Anyone that provides support or comfort—-or concealment, or applause—to the purported human being that did this participated. That includes millions. Damned well right that’s what I mean.

I am not in the habit of defending muslims, because I think islam is the oldest hate group in the world. However, I’d like to know, how do we know that this crime was committed by a muslim? It could have been done by a non-muslim trying to stir up trouble.
Niemoller says
I agree, but is there a history of non-muslims trying to pin (fake) hate crimes on muslims? There sure has been a lot of muslims trying to pin (fake) hate crimes on non-muslims. Not to mention hoax victims like Smollett committing racist slander through faking hate crimes.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
However, I’d like to know, how do we know that this crime was committed by a muslim? It could have been done by a non-muslim trying to stir up trouble.
My view, because fake hate crimes like this against muslims are virtually unheard of. It’s typically the muslims who do the fake hate crimes. Can’t count the times I’ve heard about some muslim whining about some alleged hate crime, but later they recanted and admitted it was a hoax. So I believe we’re safe in assuming the worst and that some muslim(s) did it. Islam is acting aggressively all around the world, warring, colonizing, and terrorizing on a genocidal scale. When a jihad-sounding message is found scrawled on a church then I personally don’t have the slightest compunction in assuming that a muslim did the act. If subsequent facts suggest something else then I’m not above admitting I was wrong. But I wouldn’t feel any need to apologize for being wrong. Being wrong about this graffiti would be an honest mistake due to a reasonable inference, but mass murder and terrorizing for religious superstition are among the worst humanitarian crimes conceivable. I feel no need to apologize to such people, better they should apologize to humanity for all the crimes they’ve done for their god.
Kepha says
I’m also suspending judgment. There have been so many fake “hate crimes” on all fronts that it’s best to wait until law enforcement has the perps and knows their motives.

Yet these are such difficult crimes to solve.
A few years ago one of our local cemeteries had been BRUTALLY vandalized. Statues smashed, headstones defecated upon, planted flowers ripped from their roots, and even a crude attempt to exhume a corpse.
Never solved…

I’ve considered that myself, MikeR. Tension has been particularly high as of late. Sadly, there are some people that just want to create maximum havoc for the sake of creating maximum havoc.
I would be surprised if this vandalism was committed by a non-Muslim, but certainly not shocked.
Stoking fires has now become a raging fad.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if a non Muslim was responsible for this because I live in SC less than 2hrs from Anderson and have never seen a Muslim over there in my life. To be honest I’d be surprised if it was a Muslim responsible. What my instincts tell me is it’s probably high schoolers looking for attention and trouble and since this fire at Notre Dame cathedral is fresh on the news they probably did it to freak people out around town while of course laughing about it all.

It is significant that they used the word “submit”. We must all stop using the word “convert”, either as a verb or noun. There are 48 verses in the Qur’an that exhort unbelievers to embrace Islam, and in every case, the word used is either “submit” or “surrender”. The word “convert” does not appear in the Qur’an. I don’t know what word we should use instead of convert. Any suggestions?
CogitoErgoSum says
Muslims use the word “revert” for the action of those who switch their religion to Islam since they believe everyone is actually born a Muslim. As for Christians, some use the words “born again” for those who accept baptism to become the adopted children of God and followers of Christ.
Heather says
If everyone was born a muslim (yuk) then no one would have been born before 635 AD approx. I have heard that said though. Shows how desperate and pathetically fragile their ‘religion’ is. That’s why they’re so sensitive about defending the 1600 yr old corpse Nohammad. Anyone who’s sure about their beliefs doesn’t much care what others say or think about it. It’s not a religion imo.
elee says
Islam literally means surrender.
James Lincoln says
Ed Lee,
Good point, requires some thought.
The word “convert”may still be correct if you are referring to someone who has a religion that is not Islam and decides to “convert” to Islam. Or maybe, more accurately, they simultaneously “convert” as well as “submit”.
If a person has no religion at all and decides that they want to become a Muslim, they would not have “converted” but would have simply “submitted” to Islam.
I have never had a friend or family member desire to “submit” to Islam. If it happened, I would consider it to be a five alarm fire.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
“It was very disturbing because we feel like this was an individual act and we don’t hold any religious group responsible for it,” said Bob Harrell.
That’s just a pathetic attempt to dissociate the crime from its motivating cause. The graffiti is self explanatory, religious bigotry is the motive. And where does that religious bigotry come from? I guarantee it’s not from the “individual,” the hate scrawled on that church is inexorably tied to the doctrines of islam. So shut up with your stupid excuses and admit the painful truth, the bigotry in islam produced the bigotry on the wall.
O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Allah, demon god of the muslims.
“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip.”~Allah
“Non-Muslims are the most vile of created beings.” ~Allah
Anyone who thinks islam is about divine love or peace or spirituality is deluded. It’s about jihad and oppression and “submission” because that’s what islam means–submission. You and I must submit to the dictates of a demon god invented by a murdering warlord named muhammad or pay a tax and die, that’s what islam has been for 1400 years. As an average ordinary person I find it deeply troubling that this violent and hateful ideology is taking root in my neighborhood and nation. I find it even more troubling that so many of our politicians and leaders are helping this happen. And the salt on the wound is that people like me are called racist islamophobes for caring about the violence and hate islam teaches and promotes. The problem is, we’ve got too many people out there trying to make islam’s bigoted ambitions fit into our democratic process but it ain’t going to happen. Islam is not about “diversity” or multiculturalism, islam is about total control for religious tyrants and misogynists. If we tolerate the growth of islam then we tolerate the destruction of our own nation, our freedoms, our peace, and our quest for equality. The hateful graffiti on this church is the same hate that murdered thousands on 9/11, islam inspired them both. And it is a grave moral crime for anyone to offer excuses that hide that murderous truth.
Defend freedom! by standing against the immoral dictates and ambitions of islam.

Read Bruce Bawer’s book “While Europe Slept”. The pathetic attempt in the article above to not hold Islam responsible is eerily reminiscent of how Europe dealt with each and every terrorist disaster that has befallen it over the past 20 years as Islam has pushed into the continent. Politicians actually said “the word terrorist and Islam do not belong in the same sentence.” How can the western world be so afraid of this medieval death cult? When will America realize that Sharia law and the US Constitution are diametrically opposed?

How ironic it is that this church vandalism with its message to simit to Islam was done to a Presbyterian church For is is the official position for the entire Presbyterian church that is very pro-Muslin when it come s to the subject of dividing the land of State of Israel between the Jews and the Arabs ,Muslims, ,”Palestinians” , of that area of the Middle East.
Just as important is irony that official church council of the Presbyterian church had declared that “both Christian and Muslim worship the same God.”
If that actually true the is very odd the those Muslims feel so negative about Christians that they vandalize a message to those Christians of that church.
Therefore three points should be made clear..
First, this statement of that Hamas official who said Our goal is jihad for the sake of Allah. That statement exposes that this god of Islam is a weak and powerless nothing god A false god For this Allah needs the help of Muslims for fight the jihad for him.
Second, , In the Bible it gives the account of the Prophet Elijah declared “If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal be ,then follow him.” First Kings 18:21.[N.K.J.V.] In other words follow one of the other. Not both.
Third, , many people say that the God of the Bible and the god of Islam are one the same. Is the majority always right? That’s not always the case. As an example the Christian pastor and scholar, Michael Youssef, who is also an Arab in his book entitled JESUS, JIHAD AND PEACE on page 69 informs the reader that “The name Allah comes from pre-Islamic times, and it corresponds to the Babylonian mane Bel or Baal. According to the Middle East scholar E.M. Wherry, pre-Islamic Arabs worshiped gods they called Allah. Both pre-Islamic Allah-worship and Baal –worship involved worship of the sun, the moon and the stars, which is why they are called astral religions. The crescent moon, the symbol of pagan moon worship, is also the symbol of Islam. It is printed on flags of many Islamic countries and placed atop minarets and mosques.”
Third, a former Muslim who is now a Christian, Dr. Daniel Shayesteh, who used to live in the Middle East but now he lives in America . In his book ISLAM AND THE SON OF GOD. On pages 7,8. Reads “Allah is the generic term for God in many Middle –Eastern cultures. Allah is identified as one of the 360 or so idols worshiped by the Arabian people for centuries before Muhammad was born. Many do not know that Allah was the good god of the Arabians. This explains the crescent moon found on minarets and mosques and the flags of Muslim nations. .. .Historic writings also identify Allah with Baal.” It’s also worth mentioning that the Bible condemns such astral religions. As in, for example, Second Kings 23:5.
Therefore, now in modern times, it may be rightly said “If Yahweh Lord of the Bible , be the one True God follow Him. Yet if Allah the lord of Islam be the one true god then follow him.”
The case is very clear cut.
Walter Sieruk says
The awful ignorance and foolish of many “Christians” clerics is awful. For there are a number of apologists for Islam, some are imams and mullahs and strangely enough, even some so called “Christian” priests and pastors, as the Presbyterian ministers, who don’t really obey the instruction of the Bible against such folly, as in Ephesians 5:11.II Timothy 3:16. Those “Christian” clerics have even made the outlandish claim that Christians and Muslim both believe in and worship the same God. So it stands to reason that it’s important to know if this claims valid and true or invalid and false. The facts are that the god of Islam or the Muslims is a single being. In great contrast the God of Christianity, of the Christians consists as the Trinity. By the Trinity it means that “Within the essence of the one True God there are Three Persons. Being God the Father. God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Not three gods in one But Three Distinct Persons in One God. Being the Tri-Personal Nature of God, Matthew 3:13-17. Second Corinthians 13:14. . The Bible teaches, the Father is God, Galatians 1:1.The Son is God, First John 5:20. The Holy Spirit is God, Acts 5:3,4. Not three gods but the one and only Triune God.
As further explained in the Christian book MAJOR BIBLE THEMES by Lewis Sperry Chafer on page 39 which informs the readers that “Many believe that the doctrine of the Trinity in implicit in the use of the word Elohim, as the name of God which is in a plural form and seems to refer to the Triune God. “ Likewise, in the Christian magazine PERHAPS TODAY November/December 2013 on page 8 it reads about Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning God [this is the plural noun Elohim, meaning ‘more than one’] created the heaven and the earth.” Furthermore, a bit of a view of the inner workings of the Trinity together may be seen in that the God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. Romans 10:9,10. Jesus raised Himself from the dead, John 2:19,20. The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead, Romans 8:11.The inner-workings of the Trinity of God may also be seen in the fact that the Father sanctifies, First Thessalonians 5:23. The Son sanctifies, Ephesians 5:26. Hebrews 2:11; 9:12,14;13:12.The Holy Spirit sanctifies ,Romans 15:16. Second Thessalonians 2:13. Getting back to the Bible book of Genesis. In Genesis 1:26 in reads “The God said let US make man in Our image , according to our likeness…” The words are the plural “Us” and “Our.” As in “We the Trinity” For the very next verse, 27, it further reads “So God created man in His own image…” In verse 26 it’s the plural “Us” and “Our” to the singular “His” That is Three Persons in One God. In addition, in the New Testament in Matthew 28:19 It further reads the Jesus said “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the the Son and the Holy Spirit.” [N.K.J.V] That is “name” not “names.” In conclusion the many apologists and propagandists for Islam for Islam who make the claim that Christians and Muslims believe in and worship the same God are make an untrue and outright false claim. For the God of Christianity, Christians and the Bible is not the god of Islam Muslims and the Koran.
There is the Christian internet site which replies the many different claims made by the imams and mullahs as well as the other apologists for Islam. It’s http://www.answering-islam.org

Yeah Christian’s an muslims worshipping the same God is a load of malarkey. Allah is satan masquerading as the God of the bible. And I see your post also pertains to the Trinity, if someone is trying to deny the Trinity to be more acceptable to Islam than all one has to do is point to the writings of the Early Church fathers all of them worshipped an believed in the Trinity.

Back in the ’50’s, a relative lived in that county. There was a bridge made entirely of wood. He took pics of it and submitted them to the local paper as it was interesting that even the “nails” were made of wood. The bridge was very, very old, but in excellent condition.
After the article and photos appeared in the paper, someone burned the bridge down. The arsonist was never found. There were no “messages” accompanying the crime.
In this case, it is more than likely that the culprits, the vandals, are moslim. They may be “young persons” or a “young person,” but that does not negate the idea that it was committed in the cause and name of islam. Especially since they left a “message” at the scene of the crime.
moslims want the rest of us to be in fear…not a fake fear, a ‘phobia’ they have made up…but a real fear of them and their “power” to make us sorry that we aren’t like them.
I will never be sorry I am not like them. And I’ll be surprised if this was done by a non moslim…youth or otherwise.

Uh, if it looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck… the sad truth is in this case… the person advocates for islam and that is enough to identify them with islam. Period. It was a religiously motivated vandalism and islam is responsible. If that fool somehow wasn’t a muslim before, well he just became one when he wrote that.
Being the Christian that I am, now it’s my turn:
Submit to God through Christianity. Jesus is Lord.
if you submit to islam, you submit to the devil, and mohammed is his prophet.
I can now go and graffiti that on a mosque,
someone else can burn it down later,
we can all laugh about it hysterically,
and claim that this is God’s punishment on islam for all it’s evils against us (as if that would suffice).
And they can’t whine about it now either unless they want to look like the biggest hypocrites ever.

Muhammad is written properly in Arabic characters: مُحمّد
There are different ways to spell it in English. Mohammed, Mahomet and others have been common at different periods.
Don’t expect Muslims who may have recently arrived in the country or not know English well to know the commonly accepted spelling in English at this time.
